Letter to the Members 2024

Dear Members of the BLMRA,

As we approach the end of 2024, I hope everyone is enjoying some race free weekends and making progress on next year’s championship challenger or if you’re like me I’m trying to finish all the decorating I promised throughout the year ahead of Christmas!

Behind the scenes the committee has been busy planning our 2025 season which we expect to kick off on Saturday the 26th April with a return to Spring Live Ardingly.

If you can’t wait till then you’ll want to make sure to join our 2025 season AGM at Wisborough Green Village hall on Saturday 25th January starting at 10:30 where we’ll cover the proposed race calendar, rule changes and nomination of the race committee. Full details of the AGM can be found on www.blmra.co.uk. 

As we’ve shared a few times during 2024 the BLMRA Committee continue to be a few individuals shorter than we previously have been and many hands really do help make the day to day running of the club go smoother. I would ask all members to really think about if they could potentially play a role on the committee helping wherever you can and continue to make this the great club it is. If it’s something you might consider doing so, then please get in touch with dean@blmra.co.uk and we can discuss in more detail what’s involved and how to apply. We would really appreciate any help you might be able to give no matter how big or small.

As we all look to 2025 it’s also time to renew membership ensuring you retain your race number and can continue to race, attend and camp at our events. As ever the committee continues to do everything, they can to ensure this sport remains as affordable as possible but that does need balancing with increases seen in costs across our store rent, insurance & club running costs. Despite keeping the membership fees the same for the last couple of years we have unfortunately had to take the decision to increase full membership to £61 for the 2025 season. Endurance and camping membership remain at £31 & £21 respectively. We continue to regularly review all the club running costs and will offer a full breakdown at the AGM, of course if any members have any ideas or opportunities to reduce our costs we welcome them for discussion.

I would like to also take this opportunity to remind all our members that anyone over 18 camping in the race field who isn’t a racer is required to be a member, hence they must join and pay for a camping membership, then book and pay if they wish to camp at the event.

Race numbers will be locked until 1st February 2025 at which point any membership renewals which have not taken place will cause them to be released for paid members to use if they wish to.

That just leaves me to say a big thank you again for what was another fantastic season on track and I hope everyone has a great Christmas and New Year.  I look forward to seeing all our new and old members in 2025 for what we hope will be another excellent season.
